Right, so as my last journal said I'm still dead here with all the changes that have happened other than the occasional upload or checkup on people I know here.
However! It is exactly those changes that DA made that I am posting this journal now.
Quite basically, I want to fill the gap DA left. This has been an off and on project for a year now, with more progress this year. We now have a name (ArtGrue) a list of features we want to see, somewhat of a team (though we could always use more coders since people are busy) and more progress I don't want to discuss yet, but will be out soon.
But mainly, I have an idea that fixes the exposure issue that Twitter and other art sites artists escaped too suffers. The issue where smaller artists are not seen over the popularity contest that most sites end up being. A way to give more incentive to seek out smaller artists, and that's the main goal of the site other than just giving a social media community and art gallery site for artists.
Or... as I wrote up:
An upcoming art social media site for artists by taking the best of all worlds (twitter, tumblr, DA, instagram, arstation, etc) with the features people want, but leaving out the features people hate. But MOST of all, solve the issues those sites have, mainly the exposure issue that twitter has. Where small artists are overlooked over bigger artists, and the algorithm hardly sees people under 10k followers/watchers. The big issue that causes most artists to lose out and complain over the options we have for art sites now. A site where artists can grow. But not be chained down by the popularity competition of most art sites.
If anyone is interested (if my followers here are still alive) on helping, sticking around for news, or have skills to offer (again coders wanted there are 4 of us right now).
Please see :
And for most activity the Discord at :discord.gg/hHxu5rKet2 There's not much to see yet as everything has been more privately discussed (due to everyone wanting to fill that gap, and not wanting ideas stolen), but updates will be through those channels.
And I hope to populate the discord and get peoples ideas, suggestions, desires, and just general chatter to this project more populated.
Thanks!
Yeah uhhh so the only reason I still paid for Core at this time was so I didn't have to use Eclipse. Now not only is the search feature broke as hell (no more sorting by categories to easily find tutorials and stock?) Everything else is just ugly, broken, and I'm not dealing with it.
Find me at any of these as I listed all my social media accounts.
So… um I don’t usually like asking for money, especially from strangers due to the stigma around it. But, as someone who has loved cartoons since a child and still does, and has RPd to the point of having years of story in their head wanting to bring it to life…
I recently applied to Don Bluth’s University, and got accepted. While I’ve been self teaching myself art, and animation, I know there’s still things I can’t learn myself, without years and years (I’m 29 already). And this course offers a year and the chance to be taught by Don Bluth himself, someone who might not be around much longer given his age.
So I’m hoping if possible to raise the $9000 needed by the end of August or $10,000 before October (early bird-special $1000 off ends end of August.)
If you help me, I will use anything I learn to open commissions, and draw ‘free’ art to anyone that helped in order to pay them back. 'free’ as in they’ve already paid for it by helping. Even some animations as that’s the goal of the class!
For anyone hesitant. This is a total legit thing as can be seen here www.donbluthuniversity.com/

Thank you for the help!
